Site Constraints Plan

Construction and phasing

The works to construct the new school are to be planned to ensure safety and minimise environmental impact. The nature of construction will naturally cause a level of disruption to the surrounding area though the appointed contractor will ensure that this is kept to a minimum as far as reasonably possible and will prepare a Construction Management Plan providing details of how this will be achieved.

Who is building the school?

Bowmer + Kirkland have been appointed as Main Contractor by the Department for Education.  They are very experienced in the construction and development of schools. You can see some examples on their website here.

How safe will it be during construction?

The active construction site will be securely screened and boarded to ensure no access is available to unauthorised personnel. Pupils’ ability to access other parts of the school site which remain in use during the redevelopment is of paramount importance, as is their safety and wellbeing. Bowmer + Kirkland’s Health and Safety Policy may be found here.

What will it look like?

A Public Consultation meeting was held at the school on Tuesday, 26th November 2024 where the proposed plans were displayed.

Below are some of the comments received regarding the proposed new school:

  • It's bigger and has loads more room outside the school.

  • The bike rack is safer so people don't have a chance of stealing bikes.

  • It looks well thought out inc. construction phasing.

  • It is modern and has more space. Bigger, better and is better looking.

  • New and improved. It is modern.

  • Good for the students as the existing building is old and dated.

  • The existing school needs updating hopefully it will improve our surroundings & also improve the quality of education.

  • We need improvement in our school.

  • Well planned process.

  • To give our younger generation the very best opportunity within their education setting. Thank you very much.

  • It looks like a well planned school that takes account of the environment + will encourage learning.

  • I think this is a really exciting opportunity for all children attending the school and long overdue. The plans and ideas look excellent. I truly hope they go through with no problems.
